Dashboard feature overview

Dashboard feature overview

‍

Understand your finances all in the palm of your hand. In this guide, we'll walk you through how to use each widget in the dashboard.Β

‍

1. A quick summary

‍

Like we explained in the How to Use the Dashboard article, the dashboard is designed to bring snippets of each feature within the app into one screen, so you can quickly get that one view of everything without having to spend time digging into information any further. We recommend making the dashboard your starting point to understand your finances, and then once you get that overview, you can choose to dive deeper into different features if you'd like to.

‍

2. Total balance

‍

Your total balance takes into account all the account balances for the accounts you have connected or set up manually. To view all your balances and select which ones you want included in the total balance, tap the drop-down arrow on the bottom right corner of the widget. You'll now see a list of all your accounts. To select which accounts you want included in the total balance, simply turn the toggle on or off. Once you're done, tap the arrow again, and this will close the dropdown.

‍

‍

3. Income vs expenses

‍

Your income vs. expenses widget takes into account all the categorised income and expense transactions within the time period options available. All transactions that aren't categorised or are categorised as 'Ignore' or 'Transfer' aren't included in this widget's calculations.

‍

To select which period you'd like to see, tap on the widget, and you'll see a dropdown appear where you can select this week, this month, last week, or last month. Once you've selected which period you'd like to show, tap on the widget again to close the drop-down.

‍

‍

‍

4. Top 5 expenses

‍

Top 5 expenses gives you a breakdown of the top 5 spend categories for the given time period you select. You can swipe left and drag the slider across to show all your top 5 expense categories. Then, if you'd like to change the period, you can tap the green tile and select another option for the pop-up list.Β Select the expense category to then view the transactions for that category within your selected time period.

‍

‍

5. Spend vs budget

‍

Your spend vs budget shows each expense budget you've created and what you've spent vs budget to then determine what's left over. You can open up each budget by simply tapping on each widget. We only show the top 4 expense budgets, but you can see all of them by tapping 'See all' on the bottom left corner. You can also change the views by tapping the green button on the top right.

‍

‍

6. Transactions

‍

In this widget, we show your latest 5 transactions. You can see all of your transactions by tapping the green button that says 'See all'. If you want to see the details for each transaction, you can simply tap on each one, and the transaction details screen will open.

‍

‍

7. Income vs expenses graph

‍

The income vs. expenses graph gives you a nice breakdown of how much income you made vs. your expenses per month starting from last month. Income is green and expenses are red. You can also toggle between views of the last 3, 6, and 12 months by tapping the green button up in the top right corner.

‍

You'll see at the top it has the current month selected along with what the exact income and expenses were. To change this, simply tap on each set of bars on the graph.

‍

‍

8. Goals

‍

The goals widget shows your most recent two goals that you've added. You can view the details of each goal by tapping each widget, or if you'd like to view all of them, simply select the 'See all' green button.

‍

‍

9. Merchants

‍

Here you can see how many of your merchants are categorised and uncategorised. To see all your merchants, simply tap the green 'See all' button. It's important to monitor this widget and categorise any new merchants that are created when you spend money. Merchants are shops where you spend your money. For example, if you spend money at three different countdowns, they all get grouped into the Countdown merchant.

‍

‍

10. Top 5 merchants

‍

The top 5 merchants feature gives you a breakdown of the top 5 merchants where you've spent your money. You can view your spending in different time periods by tapping the green button up in the top right corner.Β

‍

‍

Here you can see all of your accounts you've connected to BudgetBuddie or set up manually. You can view the details of each account by simply tapping on it.

‍

‍

‍

‍

‍

13. Expense breakdown
