How to add an asset

Add all of your assets and see your net worth grow, all in the palm of your hand. In this guide, we'll give you a full run-through of how to add an asset to your net worth.

1. A quick summary

‍

Your assets are one of the main parts of determining your net worth. We've made it super simple to add your assets to BudgetBuddie and keep track of them as they change in value. You can assign accounts to an asset to automatically keep your net worth up to date, or alternatively, you can choose to enter the value of your asset manually.

2. Adding a asset

To add an asset, simply tap the + symbol to the right of 'Your assets'. This will then bring you to the Add an Asset screen, where you can enter in all your details.

3. Enter your asset details

‍

Once you've selected to add an asset, you can then enter in all the details for it. You can choose to link your asset to an account or not by selecting the button next to 'Link to an account' at the top of the screen. You can then enter the name of your asset, along with the asset value and an emoji.

4. Linking an asset to an account

Link to an account: Yes

‍

If you choose to link your accounts to an asset, once you select 'Yes' as the option, a screen will automatically show to link your asset to an account. Once you see this screen, simply select which accounts you'd like to allocate to the asset, then tap the exit symbol in the top right corner to return back to the add asset screen and continue adding your details.

Link to an account: No

If you choose not to link your asset to an account, then you can leave the option as 'No' and then you can enter in your value manually. Each time the value of your asset changes, you'll need to update this value in BudgetBuddie as well.

5. Add your asset

‍

Once you've selected your accounts and entered in your details manually, simply tap on the button at the bottom of the screen to add your asset.
