How to edit an asset or liability

Need to change a name or type, update this month's value, or fill in past months? Here's how to edit an item, edit monthly history, or delete an asset or liability.

1. Open the item

‍

On the Net worth screen, tap the asset or liability you want to change. That opens the edit screen, with a preview of how that item has changed over time at the top.

‍

2. Edit your details

‍

Tap any field to change what you entered when you created the item:

‍

• Name
• Type - this moves the item into a different group on the Net worth screen
• Value - this only updates the current month
• Emoji
• Link to an account - tap Yes to pick or change accounts, or tap No to enter the value yourself

If accounts are linked, the current value comes from those accounts. Unlink them if you want to type the value in again.

On web, tap Confirm changes. On mobile, tap Update Asset or Update Liability.

3. Edit monthly history

‍

To change a past month, go back to the Net worth screen and tap Edit next to your assets or liabilities. This works like editing your budget.

‍

• On web - you'll see a spreadsheet-style grid of the last 24 months. Type a value in a month and it saves when you leave the cell
• On mobile - swipe between months or pick a month, then enter the value for each item

A few rules to keep in mind:

‍

• Manual items - start at $0 for past months until you add a value
• Linked items - fill in from your account balances
• Months you edit yourself - stay as you left them, even after a later account refresh

‍

Changing the value on the item itself only updates the current month. Use this history editor for any other month.

‍

‍

4. Delete an asset or liability

‍

Open the item, tap the bin icon, then confirm. This removes it from your net worth, including its monthly history. This can't be undone.

‍
