Getting started overview

Ready to get started? Here's what's involved in setting up your account.

1. Where to sign up

‍

You can sign up at account.budgetbuddie.com, or by downloading the app from the App Store or Play Store.

‍

If you sign up in the app, we offer a 14-day free trial as your initial plan. To choose a paid plan from the start, sign up at account.budgetbuddie.com.

‍

We'll ask for your first name, email address, and password. Your password must:

‍

• Be at least 8 characters
• Contain at least one number
• Contain at least one letter
• Contain at least one special character

‍

2. Selecting a plan

‍

If you signed up in the app, you'll go straight to getting started. If you signed up on account.budgetbuddie.com, you'll see the Select Plans screen, then Stripe to process payment. After that you can download the app and log in.

3. Verifying your email

‍

We'll send a 6-digit code to confirm it's you. Enter that code to continue.

‍

‍

4. Enter a promo code

‍

If you have a promo code from a friend or partner, enter it here. If you don't, skip this step.

‍

‍

5. Set your financial priorities

‍

This helps us understand how we can add the most value to how you manage your money.

‍

‍

6. Connecting your accounts

‍

We use Akahu to handle the connection. Have your customer number and password handy. Once the connections are complete, you'll come back to BudgetBuddie.

‍

7. What to do next

‍

Tap Finish set up and we'll give you a tour of the features. After that:

‍

• Set budgets - this unlocks leftover, cashflow, and a lot of the dashboard
• Use a savings category - for a regular set-aside like KiwiSaver or an emergency fund. Read How savings categories work
• Use a goal - when you have a target date, like a house deposit. Read Goals feature overview
• Add net worth - to track what you own and owe month by month. Read Net worth feature overview
