The NZ budgeting app with live bank feeds 🇳🇿
Connect ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac, Kiwibank and 20+ more NZ providers through Akahu, so your transactions and balances update automatically.

Which budgeting app has NZ bank feeds?
BudgetBuddie is a budgeting app with live New Zealand bank feeds through Akahu, New Zealand's open banking provider. On Pro it connects 25+ NZ banks, KiwiSaver providers, and investment platforms, so transactions flow in and are categorised automatically. Pro is $10.35 a month for your first 12 months, then $13.80 a month, and you can try bank connections during the 14-day Pro trial. BudgetBuddie works on iOS, Android, and the web.
Supported NZ banks
ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac, Kiwibank, TSB, SBS Bank, The Co-operative Bank, Heartland Bank, and Rabobank, plus American Express, Gem Finance, Wise, and IRD. KiwiSaver and investment providers include Booster, Fisher Funds, Generate, Milford, Simplicity, SuperLife, Sharesies, Hatch, and Kernel. See every integration.
What is Akahu and is it safe?
Akahu is New Zealand's open finance infrastructure. It sits between your bank and BudgetBuddie, and you authorise each connection yourself. Connections are read-only, so BudgetBuddie cannot move money. BudgetBuddie never stores your banking passwords, and data is encrypted in transit and at rest on AWS. You can remove a connection at any time. How BudgetBuddie keeps your data safe.
What happens once your bank is connected
- Transactions import and are categorised automatically, with rules for the rest
- Budgets track against real spending: weekly, fortnightly, monthly, custom, or zero-based
- Money insights show spending by category and merchant
- Cashflow, net worth, and goals stay up to date without spreadsheets
How other NZ apps handle bank feeds
Steady also uses Akahu. PocketSmith uses global bank feeds on paid plans. MyBudgetPal syncs daily via Yodlee. CashNav works with Westpac only. YNAB has no live NZ bank feeds and relies on CSV import. Compare BudgetBuddie with each one.
In Australia?
BudgetBuddie is also built for Australians. Live Australian bank feeds are not available yet, so you import statements from your Australian bank instead, by sharing them straight into the app or importing transactions from screenshots. BudgetBuddie then enriches every transaction automatically with merchant names and logos, groups them by merchant, and assigns categories, so your imported statements work just like a live feed. Budgets, money insights, goals, net worth, and the retirement planner all work in Australia, at the same price.
